Water, Sanitation & Hygiene
“And We have made from water every living thing”
Nearly 1,000 children under 5 who die every day as a result of contaminated water, poor sanitation, and improper hygiene.
You can help end the global water crisis in our lifetime
Water is the key to all life: Nearly every single living organism needs water to survive.
Imagine life without clean water! It’s a reality for the families and communities of the nearly 1,000 children under 5 who die every day as a result of contaminated water, poor sanitation, and improper hygiene.
And for the millions of women and children across the globe who walk an average of 6-8 kilometers every day to get water – keeping them from school and other productive activities. In practical terms, this distance from a water source is close to the outer limit of what humans can cover in order to bring back enough water to meet the bare minimum requirements for survival.
Without water to drink, people can’t live. Without water for their crops and livestock, they can’t eat enough or earn a living. Without clean water, they are vulnerable to cholera, typhoid, hepatitis, skin diseases and eye infections.
According to a United Nations publication, “Safe Water as the Key to Global Health,” “No other single intervention is more likely to have a significant impact on global poverty than the provision of safe water.” You can help lift this burden.
Thanks to partners like you, we’re helping families gain easy access to clean and safe drinking water – and we’re working to reach everyone, everywhere we work. You’ll bring lasting change to thirsty, underserved communities by helping provide resources such as:
- Wells, pumps, and water points for permanent access to safe and clean drinking water.
- Piping Systems to irrigate crops.
- Water purification units.
- Hygiene kits.
- Latrines and hand-washing stations.
Our Dedication to Water and Sanitation
When we build a water system, we ensure that communities have a sustainable source of clean water for years to come. We recognize the risk of drought, displacement, and disease, so we know that simply drilling wells and installing water pumps cannot solve the water crisis.
We bypass short-term interventions and high running costs to instead provide long-term sustainable solutions , including installing irrigation systems, building water tanks, training communities, distributing hygiene kits, and rehabilitating viable but unusable water systems.
WE NEED YOUR HELP
We envision communities where everyone has access to clean water and sanitation, where water is considered as a fundamental and basic right, not a privilege. With your help, we can make the hope of thirsty communities a reality.
